Lynn graduated from Iowa State University in May 1960 with a BSME degree. He was commissioned Oct. 14, 1960 from OCS, Newport, RI. Upon completion of Civil Engineer Corp Officer School, he began a long and illustrious career that took him to many parts of the world in many capacities. He received a Masters Degree in Financial Management from Naval Post Graduate School in 1970. Lynn served on the Chief of Naval Operations Staff as Long Range Planning Officer in July 1976. He graduated from the Naval War College in spring, 1981 and retired as a Commander, CEC, and USN June 30, 1982.
As a civilian, Lynn worked in multiple places from east coast to west coast until he retired in January 2003.
His most important military duty was as S-3 NMCB 10, which was recognized as the Best SEABEE battalion in the World. His most professional civilian project was getting the Los Angeles Green Line (a Light Rail System) constructed under its $703 million budget.
Lynn met his wife, Barbara, during his first deployment to Argentina, Newfoundland. They have two daughters, Lisa and Kendra. Lynn and Barbara are avid travelers.
